Remember when I used to do stuff? That was a really fun time in my life!

Last weekend I had a lil’ girls group date to see Becky Robinson (of Entitled Housewife fame) at the Pantages Theater:

We did dinner at Dario, which I had super high expectations for thanks to Jason DeRusha talking it up all the time in his newsletter, The DeRusha Download. Dario hand-makes their own pasta, the place has a very fun Palm Springs/Palm Beach vibe (and a Kelly Kapowski cocktail on the bar menu!), the music is full of ‘90s hiphop jams, and our waiter was so dreamy that we kept asking him unnecessary questions about the menu just so we could keep staring into his beautiful brown eyes. Jason recently asked people on Twitter if they would prefer a “vibe” rating when it comes to restaurant reviews, and I was a “OMG YES PLEASE”, because I think it’s super important to know if a place is more of a It’s A Girl Dinner, We’re Sharing Plates, We’re Drinking Fancy Cocktails, We’re Living, Laughing & Loving Out Loud type of place, or more of a We Are Sipping Expensive Wine & Having Deep Intimate Conversations Over Candlelight vibe. For instance, Colita is so confusing to me because the decor is so sexy and the lighting is so warm and intimate, and yet the acoustics make it literally one of the loudest places I’ve ever dined in.

Anyway, Dario was great, and is definitely more of a Fun Girl Dinner vibe.

After dinner we waddled down the street to Edward’s Dessert Kitchen so the girls could have a lil’ somethin’ sweet (I was too full, you guys…I’m just soooo tiny and petite that it’s hard for me to eat a lot 🤭) and I could get an espresso martini.

Me, Katy, Lacey, and Michelle. PSL Lacey is one of the most talented Licensed Acupuncturists and holistic healers I’ve ever worked with. She tends to be booked out FOR MONTHS in advance, but feel free to use me as a referral if you want to get on her books. She also teaches Reiki certification (I’m Level 2 certified thanks to her!) and Human Design classes that also get sold out super fast, so follow her on IGto be the first know when they’re happening!

Listen: I do not have a sophisticated palate. Whenever I’m with my friends or family up north, we always go to this one place where they basically make their espresso martinis with cold coffee and Hershey’s syrup, but the view is so tremendous and the company is so fun that you’re like, “Mmm, these are gooooood!” But these espresso martinis at Edwards were AMAZING - so smooth, so chocolatey, and enough alcohol and caffeine to perk you up after a (handmade) pasta load. Edward’s is also only a few steps away from the Hewing Hotel, which just happens to be where my cousin Melanie is getting married in September, so you better believe that I was texting my whole family with “Oh my god you guys, when you come for the wedding in September, I HAVE to take you to this place for the BEST espresso martinis!!!!”…like I’m the city’s foremost expert on the best places for espresso martinis or something, and that they should get so excited as to bookmark this idea FIVE MONTHS in advance.

Just part of the charm of knowing me, I guess!

Anyway, Becky Robinson was so fun. I, like many others, fell in love with her Entitled Housewife sketches on TikTok, but I gotta tell you - her regular stand-up routine is where she really shines. She’s one of those stand-ups who nail the physical comedy, and has such a tight hour that you’re like, “Wait, go back to that one part, I wanna hear more about that!”

The one thing to know about her show is that almost EVERYONE dresses up in Entitled Housewife golf gear, which is super fun.

Fun fact: I took this photo to show Karah and Luke - who love Becky Robinson - an example of all the women who dressed up as a group, and then later learned that these are Karah and Luke’s friends!

The thing that’s even more fun is realizing that half the women love the Entitled Housewife because they think it’s a hilarious character, and the other half love her because they relate to her.

Anyway, it was a great girls night out. Follow me for more very incomplete reviews of eateries and entertainment!

Other Fun Stuff:

My baby bro got engaged!!!!!!!!

I could not be happier for them, and for me - Sarah is amazing, and I am SO excited that she’s going to be an official part of our dumb, crazy family. Katy and I used to talk a lot about how I hit the jackpot with getting Becky as a sister-in-law, and so I shouldn’t expect for lightning to strike twice, but WHADDYA KNOW…it DID. Congrats, Dan and Sarah!!! ♥️♥️♥️

Every once in a while I see a TikTok that I love so much or that makes me laugh so hard that I save it in my Evergreen folder. One of these days I’ll share a bunch of those on here for those of you who like that kind of stuff, but this is the latest addition:

I haven’t watched Renegade Nell on Disney+ yet because I’m saving it for a weekend when I can fully sink into it, but I have become obsessed with the TikTok thirst trap edits that other people have been making of the show:

For our lil’ charity/humanitarian spotlight this week, World Central Kitchen has resumed their efforts in Gaza. If you’d like to support them, you can make a one-time or monthly donation here.

Caro posted this video and was able to crowdsource/identify a few resources for those of us who are horrified by the arrests of (and police brutality towards) college students and professors who are protesting the US involvement in Gaza.

The top one she spotlit is CampusBailFunds, which keeps a running list of campus encampments (including those in Minnesota).

Anyway, that’s it from me this week!

Love you, mean it -
