The Weekend Coffee™: And I Ran, The Dumbest Oz, Passing the Puck, & Too Much Content
First, to quickly document what’s happening in our country because I still can’t handle journaling about the day-to-day events without completely spiraling but making a record of it somewhere also seems important: Yesterday morning the US & Israel bombed a girl’s school in Iran and killed 153 people; 47 once again made the call to strike without Congressional approval, which he does not have the legal authority to do; three US service members have lost their lives so far from Iranian retaliation; and Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has been officially pronounced as deceased.
In news that you probably won’t see in legacy media, on Friday a group of US administration officials were overheard in the bar area of a D.C. Joe’s Stone Crab talking about the bombing scheduled for later that night (TMZ recorded a clip about it on Friday afternoon but waited to post it because Harvey Levin is a f*cking coward) and six suspected insiders made $1.2 million specifically betting on a US strike on Iran for Feb. 28 - bets that were bought mere hours before the strike.
So that all feels very cool and doesn’t make one sick to your stomach at all!!
Also, this week the Trump administration announced that it was halting Minnesota Medicaid funds over fraud allegations, which, as we already know, is total and complete bullshit.
Also bullshit:
Of course it’s insane that the federal government is trying to sanction one of their own states by targeting its’ most vulnerable citizens over Medicaid fraud when we successfully prosecuted our fraud AND aren’t even the among the top five states with the biggest amount of Medicaid fraud (those would be Texas, California, Florida, New York, and Massachusetts). It’s also insane that MN repubs are trying to position themselves as fighters against fraud, when they’ve blocked every comprehensive fraud prevention bill and an Office of Inspector General bill. But if you actually solve fraud, then you can’t use it as an election year talking point to the dumbest of your constituents who apparently don’t know how to read a goddamn newspaper, much less a whole chapter book!!
Also this week - even though now it literally feels like it happened a whole year ago - the women’s Olympic hockey team won the battle of USA Hockey Gold celebratory meals when Stanley Tucci took them out to his favorite restaurant in Milan:
Also the Flavor Flav Vegas trip for the Women’s team just keeps getting better and better:
And now Flav is upping the ante:
As someone who grew up with Public Enemy and was an OG Flavor of Love watcher - which was, y’know, maybe not as positive and supportive of women as one would like -
…nothing makes me happier than to see Flav support the women of the Olympics. Flav’s support of women Olympians could not make me more happy.
Earlier this week it was all over the news that SNL had invited the Men’s Hockey team to appear in Saturday’s show, and I was PEEEAAAHHHSSSED about that because with Heated Rivalry star Connor Storrie hosting, they had the chance to do the best thing ever and instead it sounded like they were doing the WORST thing ever, but they managed to stick the landing in the middle and for that I reluctantly applaud them:
Also the amount of “Amber, just support both teams, it’s Team USA, they both did an incredible job, just be nice” DMs this week was off the charts. I would never congratulate a men’s team for winning anything?! ACT LIKE YOU KNOW ME.
Anyway - I had planned to talk about talk about the Traitors finale AND the latest batch of Love is Blind AND talk about all the real life Love Story content that’s coming out now that the show is a resounding hit this week, but because of the above, I now literally do not have space of any of that! So instead, I’ll be sending out a Weekday Coffee Break ™ about the Traitors on Monday, a WCB about Love Is Blind on Wednesday (just in time for the last “are they gonna break up at the altar? And do I even care anymore?” episodes to drop on Netflix), and Love Story stuff on Friday (same day the newest episode drops), with True Story in between on Tuesday and Thursday!
I was toying with the idea of breaking up today’s The Weekend Coffee™ into parts, since the world is moving so fast that even all of the above almost feels like too-old news, but you already know I don’t like flooding your inbox with newsletters. In that respect, I’ve had to get really comfortable with the almost-daily The Weekly Coffee Break™ newsletters, but you guys keep telling me you love them and I ALSO love them, so I am trying to expand my comfort zone in that area.
Also, it just hit me yesterday that I really should start doing those IG carousels where people post Threads against a themed background, etc, which is something I had already started doing for True Story but yesterday was like, “oh wow, maybe I should do it for the massive number of Threads I post to my Stories every single day, too”, which is another example of how, when it comes to my IQ I am very smart, but when it comes to real life I am very stupid.
BUT ALSO, I haven’t wanted to do that because I’ve been saving my grid for True Story content, which at some point is going to become a chronological document of my life. BUT ALSO ALSO, does anyone ever pay attention to curated grids anymore??? Like that’s not even a thing anymore, you know? No one cares, and more than that, people barely even see the stuff you post to your grid, much less enough to stop and say, “hey, this feels very un-curated and not on theme.”
What I’m trying to say is that I’ve done a lot of things these past two months that I never thought I would ever do and all of which had nothing to do with my big, overarching goals that I set for myself 6 months ago, which is proof positive for my lifelong belief that setting goals for me personally is very dumb and a huge waste of time because my life changes so fast that nothing ever happens the way it’s supposed to.
Which is also a nice excuse for why I can’t stick to anything!!! An excuse that I will continue to use for as long as it benefits me, which honestly is probably going to be forever!!!!
Speaking of how fast the world changes, I keep meaning to share this and keep forgetting to per literally everything else that’s been happening since the new year:
Also, this also-sort-of-old-but-maybe-new-to-you video feels like a nice lil’ celebration of Minnesota, hockey, winter, and being stupid -
See you tomorrow for TRAITOR TAWWWWKKKK (or not, if you’re not into that show!), and have the best week possible under the current circumstances!!!
